While many researchers have developed interesting use cases for Augmented Reality in urban environments, one could argue that the long-term viability of such applications as planning tools will likely require evaluating whether such applications are compatible with the democratically mandated procedures in Urban Planning. Thse case studies are done in Oslo, Norway in the context of developing AR for use in a zoning plan. The study thus presents some of the benefits and/or challenges of using these technologies in such a manner, particularly regarding accuracy, user feedback, and robustness as a common interface.
